“Respect good things.”

- Jens Risom

Danish-born furniture designer Jens Risom combines simple, well-crafted Scandinavian modernity with streamlined American curves and angles. Born in Copenhagen in 1916, Risom emigrated from Europe to New York early in his career and began working with Hans Knoll.  Risom was responsible for producing 15 of the first 20 pieces the Hans Knoll Furniture Company launched in 1942. Risom is the recipient of numerous awards and his work has been placed in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, NY; the R.I.S.D. Museum, Providence, RI; and the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, NY.

Risom has created a custom stool with Maharam fabric that will be used in the Glass House Visitor Center.  This signed stool, exclusive to the Glass House, is available for sale in a signed and limited edition.
