Communities across the country face threats to the preservation of their significant mid-century modern resources. Some positive examples of communities rising to the challenge to protect their library and university buildings include New Haven, CT; Columbus, IN; Ithaca, NY; Grosse Pointe, MI;Litchfield, CT; Oregon; Wilton, CT.

An example of a significant modern resource that needs your support is the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield, CT.  It stands today as a town landmark and Modernist gem designed by Warren Platner (1919-2006). The aging structure is challenging planners who may raze the existing library to make way for a new building. The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation is urging the town and planners to develop a solution to renovate or expand the existing Platner-designed library. To support the Warren Platner-designed library, send a letter of support to the town's First Selectman.
