All visitors to the Philip Johnson Glass House participate in small-group, guided tours of the 47-acre National Trust site. Glass House Guides are prepared to share key ideas and information as they lead
tours designed to foster dialogue about architecture, art, landscape, preservation. and leadership and influence.
Guides are selected based on their enthusiasm and ability to communicate. All guides must participate in a rigorous training program and, throughout the season, regular meetings as they continue to learn and improve their tour. Guide training includes sessions with experts on architecture, art history and Modernism, history of the New England landscape, 20th century social history, preservation, and interpretation techniques. Glass House Guides are public ambassadors for the National Trust and the Philip Johnson Glass House, conveying our mission and engaging visitors in positive and engaging tour experiences.
