Digital Conversations Forum goes live
The Glass House, in partnership with the MFA Interaction Design Department of the School of Visual Arts, has launched a new interactive web forum to continue Philip Johnson and David Whitney's legacy of the "longest-running salon in America." In 2008 and 2009, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope sponsored Glass House Conversations, an invitation-only series that brought together influential cultural leaders to explore topics, such as “The Power of Place,” “Attention Span,” or “Trophy."
Now you can join the conversation. Each week a moderator—many of whom are drawn from the 2008-2009 series—hosts a question, and people worldwide have a chance to participate in a new dialogue. Each on-line conversation runs up to five days, and after comments have closed a “Final Word” is chosen from the replies.
This week, John Maeda, President of the Rhode Island School of Design, asks the question, "If you had to choose between a pencil, a knife or a hammer, which would you choose and why?" We invite you to join the Conversation.

Modern Views Project Underway
Modern Views: A Project to Benefit the Farnsworth House and the Glass House was officially launched on June 2nd at the Four Seasons Restaurant in NYC. One hundred contemporary artists, architects and designers have created and donated works of art and written statements, capturing their thoughts and inspirations about these two iconic buildings and the architects who created them. The project is documented in an illustrated book published by Assouline, available this fall with original construction drawings of both houses, and includes an online exhibition of the works, and two special events--one in Chicago and one in NY--with a live auction and film premiere.
